From the Editor:
Dear Readers: If you want to understand the conflict between the Muslims and the Jews that now not only centers in and around Israel but threatens Jews around the world, this is a must read article from Dr. Mordechai Kedar, a scholar who has spent his career studying Arab political discourse and its ramifications in the world at large.
As Jerry Gordon writes in his April 24th article, Dr. Kedar explains ”why Jews have been the target of terror attacks for nearly a century in Israel and in the 21st Century in the West: Islamic Jihad doctrine. Now with the self declared Caliphate of the Islamic State, European Jews live under daily threats against their lives from émigré Muslims, hundreds of returning ISIS veterans seeking to kill their Jew.” It has nothing to do with the existence of Israel, or the actions of Israelis. It is, as Dr. Kedar explains, based on Islamic ideology and dogma. His article is articulate, precise, and highly readable. It is also essential reading as we all struggle to come to terms with the growing threat of ISIS, not only against the Jews, but against what we used to call the ‘free world’.

My dear friends, Jews in Israel and the Diaspora.
I am sorry to tell you that the terror attacks we from which we suffer today and yesterday, a week ago, a month, a year and a decade and century ago, are all part of the same war, the same struggle, the same Jihad waged against us by our neighbors for over a century. Sometimes it is a full scale war with tanks, noise, flames, planes and ships and sometimes it is a war on a slow burner known as “terror” with explosions, stabbings and shots. Each of these is Jihad in Arabic, each is aimed at Jews just for being Jewish. Continue reading
During the last month, since the beginning of the Jewish New Year, Israel has seen a dramatic upsurge of deadly attacks by Arabs against Jews. 24 attacks against Jewish ‘targets’ in less than a month have left eight dead and 57 wounded, some critically. The terrorists make no distinction between victims, so long as they are Jewish. Most of their recent victims have therefore been the religious Jews, easily identified by their conservative dress. Age is no barrier; the terrorists stab babies and old women with abandon and without remorse. Yet although the assault on Jews on Israeli streets has been no secret, the media has been largely ignoring it. There are no headlines, it seems, in the blood of Jews murdered in the streets of Israel. Continue reading
The ongoing toxic reporting from Huffington Post, which calls itself “the destination for news”, has once again distinguished itself with a collection of highly biased articles and a front page featured blog by David Bromwich, this time blasting Senator Chuck Schumer’s decision to vote against President Obama’s signature foreign policy ‘deal’ with Iran. One article begins with the statement, “Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) preserved support from his hawkish pro-Israel base with his promise to vote down the Iran nuclear deal.” Continue reading
“My good friends, for the second time in our history, a British prime minister has returned from Germany bringing peace with honour. I believe it is peace for our time … Go home and get a nice quiet sleep.”
~ Neville Chamberlain, September 30, 1938
“If we, as a nation, continue to believe the blatant lies being fed to us by this administration, we are heading for a world where Iran is a nuclear armed terror state and an arms race with other Arab nations in the region.” Continue reading
On Tuesday, July 14, 2015, the world got a lot scarier. As President Barack Obama and Secretary of State John Kerry celebrated the completion of a ‘deal’ with Iran, an ominous feeling of déjà vu cast a long shadow over the news and on the prospects for peace in the world, perhaps for generations. While the administration told us throughout the long negotiations that they were prepared to walk away from the table, it was clear almost from the outset that these were negotiations they were not willing to see fail. In the process, they gave away the store and got nothing in return but the prospect of nuclear war. Continue reading
Emmanuel at 90
A few days ago, I received word that Emmanuel Pratt, my friend of 35 years, had passed away at the age of 94. Although ours was an often rocky friendship, we nevertheless remained close friends until the end.
Emmanuel’s life was something of a reflection of the country in which he chose to live, and which he loved with all his heart. He was brilliant and talented, even as he could be abrasive and volatile. He was highly political, independent, Quixotic, and with an explosive temper that often erupted when least expected. But his talent was extraordinary. He was a journalist – for English, Hebrew, and Russian language publications. He was an author and a translator. He was an artist. And he was a character! President Barak Obama has declared war on Israel – the kind of war that will have far-reaching and devastating consequences on the future of both countries.Obama’s war against the Jewish state can be seen in his blatant disregard for Israel’s legitimate fears that a nuclear Iran will mean an uncontrolled nuclear Middle East and an existential threat to Israel. It was seen in his meddling in the recent Israeli elections in an effort to defeat Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. And in his poorly concealed rage when Netanyahu won a resounding victory. Continue reading
When Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin ‘Bibi’ Netanyahu came to town in early March, he came to address a joint session of Congress at the invitation of House Speaker John Boehner. President Barack Obama pointedly refused to meet with him. His excuse was that he didn’t want to appear to influence the Israeli elections, just two weeks away.
That excuse was both ironic and blatantly hypocritical Continue reading
